Round up 1st September 2018

The First Qualifying Round of the FA Vase took place today and the League have eight clubs who will be participating in the next round. In terms of scores the honour will fall to SHERWOOD COLLIERY who crushed United Counties League Premier Division side Oadby Town 7-1 at Oadby. Jobe Shaw led the way with a hat-trick and there were further contributions from Gareth Curtis, Lewis Weaver and a late brace from Charlie Hardwick.
EASTWOOD COMMUNITY also recorded an excellent win at Anstey Nomads by 5-2. The Nomads were runners up in the League and Cup in EMCFL league last season before being transferred to the United Counties League for this season. That resulted in the club losing a number of players and Eastwood took advantage with Patrick Webb recording two goals and Kaylum Mitchell, Rory Smith and Kieran Knight bagging the others.
Success also for ASHBY IVANHOE where Josh Lawrence put them ahead against Friar Lane & Epworth on 40 minutes and a 75th minute own goal killed off the Leicestershire Senior League side.
CLIFTON ALL WHITES and BELPER UNITED shared eight goals in 90 minutes but neither side could break the deadlock in extra time resulting in a replay on Tuesday. Jack Richardson, Jahred Russell and Daryll Thomas gave the Whites a healthy interval advantage. Ryan Baker pulled one back three minutes into the second half but a second Thomas goal reopened the three goal gap. Belper staged a late comeback in the last 15 minutes with Baker completing his hat-trick and substitute Sam Vickers taking the game into the inclusive extra time.
Extra time saw INGLES knocked out after their game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes and 2-2 after extra time. Hosts Melton Town winning the penalty shoot out 6-5. Laithan Hammond and Dan Jelley were the scorers for Ingles.
SELSTON made progress by 3-1 at fellow East Midlands Counties League side RADFORD with Kenan Layton, Jamie Renshaw and Scott Taylor scoring the come back goals after Conor Moore had given the home side the lead.
And another all EMCL game saw goals from Ben Cartwright, Jake Vernon and Barry Alberry give TEVERSAL a comfortable win at neighbours RAINWORTH MINERS WELFARE.
Goals from Jon Jebbison, Lee Williamson and Sean Green helped KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE to a 3-1 away win at Lincoln Moorlands Railway.
Big defeats were handed out to three of our other clubs. WEST BRIDGFORD went down 6-0 at Midland League Loughborough University; BORROWASH VICTORIA lost 7-0 at home to Central Midlands League Hucknall Town and GEDLING MINERS WELFARE lost 4-0 at home to Midland League Premier leaders Ilkeston Town. There was some consolation for Gedling though as a bumper crowd on 310 would boost their financial coffers.
CLIPSTONE lost at home to AYLESTONE PARK by the odd goal of three. The visitors scored twice in the first half hour. Tim Gregory pulled one back for Clipstone with 17 minutes left but the couldn’t find the leveller.
There were two league matches played. GRAHAM STREET PRIMS continue with their extra ordinary goalscoring form with a 7-0 win over ARNOLD TOWN which keeps them at the top of the table. Two each from Bradley Scard and Marr Harris were added to by Dominic Wilkinson, Kurt Dallison and Geroge Lynam.
HEANOR TOWN beat BARROW TOWN 3-0 thanks to goals from Cory Bowler, Jamie Sleigh and Jordan Ball in a dramatic game at the Town Ground. The Lions were left with nine men after Oliver Roome received a straight red and Cory Bowler was dismissed for two yellows. And to compound matters manager Dan Martin resigned immediately after the game.
