Rain once again devastated both the midweek and today’s fixture list, but it did not stop EASTWOOD COMMUNITY moving back to the top of the table with their 14th home win of the season over (wait for it…) RAIN – WORTH MINERS WELFARE. The Red Badgers 3G pitch has seen them go through this dreadfully wet winter without a game being called off, and this after Central Midlands League Linby Colliery Welfare Reserves played on it last night! And lost 9-1!! Kieran Knight warmed the cockels of the 126 spectators with a 41st minute penalty, followed by a second ten minutes from the end. Right on time Kieren Watson hit the third.
DUNKIRK moved up to third place with a hard fought win by the odd goal of three at GEDLING MINERS WELFARE. Tyrell Shannon-Lewis broke the deadlock ten minutes into the second half. Kieran Harrison levelled on the hour but Jonathan Jebbison grabbed an 81st minute winner.
HUCKNALL TOWN suffered their second away defeat of the season going down to the only goal of the game scored by Kyles Fowkes on the hour for INGLES. Thus the race for the four top positions to guarantee Step 5 football next season when the leagues are reorganised is now hotting up.
SHIREBOOK TOWN’s new-look side grabbed their second home win of the season with a 2-0 success over RADFORD. Luke Manlove hit the first on the half hour mark and Owen Ryan got the second in the 64th minute. Shirebrook’s fortunes have started to turn since the club were taken over by Central Midlands League side Renishaw Rangers who found their landlords uncooperative over the proposed ground improvements at Kiveton Park leading them to part company with them.
BARROW TOWN confirmed their mid-table position with their fifth home win of the season against a TEVERSAL side in danger of slipping into the bottom two following the resurgence of Shirebrook Town. Goals from Ash Way, Sam Moore and Connor Brown-Wingfield in the first half put them well on the way to a 4-1 victory. Daniel Fullwood did get one back for the Tevie Boys from the penalty spot in the 54th minute but six minutes later Ash Way’s second goal of the game re-opened the three goal gap.
