A belated well done to Graham Street Prims on winning the East Midlands Counties League cup.
GRAHAM ST PRIMS completed an hat trick of wins over SUTTON TOWN AFC this season when they beat them 4-2 to lift the trophy from Jenkins and Jenkins representative. Mark Jenkins, in front of an healthy crowd of 166. Prims started confidently and were rewarded after just 3 minutes when a free kick from Chris Briggs eluded all to finish in the opposite bottom corner of the net. SUTTON were guilty of some slack defensive play and paid the price when Prims Was the penalty before of after the sending off last nightwent 2-0 up after 28 minustes through Matt Harris, To compound their poor 1st half defensive display Suttom fell further behind when Phil Summerfield hit the net in the 34th minute. At last this seemed to bring Sutton to life and they were eventually rewarded when Ash Grayson steered a hard low right wing cross just inside the post, 2 minutes into 1st half added time. The 2nd half started in similar fashion to the end of the 1st, with Sutton in the ascendency and Richard Guest became the hero when he further reduced the deficite on 54 minutes, game on. However, the Prims retaliated and Sutton's Matt Varney wrapped himself around the goal post as he prevented a certain GSP goal when keeper West had been beaten in a 1 on 1 challenge. However, Varley became the villain when he gave away a penalty with 10 minutes remaining which Prims leading scorer, James Rushby, safetly converted by sending keeper West the wrong way to restore the 2 goal advantage. Sutton tried to come back but it was not their night as they were reduced to 10 men to finish to game
