History

The Club was founded in 1964 as Manlove & Alliots FC and played in the Notts Sunday League. The Engineering firm, which was based in Radford moved to Scotland in 1970. The club carried on under the name of Radford Olympic FC. In 1977, the club became the first amateur club in Britain to be allowed to wear advertising on their shirts.

In the early 80’s Radford Olympic transferred to Saturday football and quickly advanced up the leagues. In 1982/83, the club finished champions of the East Midlands Regional League. The next season the club was in the Central Midlands League where they won the Central Midlands League Senior Cup. In 1987 Radford Olympic were renamed Radford FC.

At the end of the 2002/03 season, the club were promoted to the Central Midlands League Supreme Division. In the 2005/06 season, floodlighting and significant ground improvements were actioned along with a seated stand to give the club grade G standard. Under the guidance of Julian Garmston and Pete Kelley, the club finished a creditable fifth in the league and won the CML Floodlit Cup.

In season 2008/09 the club was accepted into the newly formed East Midlands Counties League (step 6) and finished 14th in their first season. The last few seasons have been difficult for the club with them finishing at the lower end of the League. Radford FC will be working hard to make this season a success as 2014 see’s the clubs 50th anniversary.
