Perhaps it was a bit of foresight on the part of KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE to hire EASTWOOD COMMUNITY’s 3G pitch and switch their game against GRAHAM STREET PRIMS to their near neighbours ground. In the end it proved to be a good move because it was the only game of the nine match programme to beat the wet conditions over the last week leaving pitches and grounds resembling swimming baths. The end result though might not have been so pleasing for the Prims as the Stags won convincingly 7-2 for their second win of the season and move three positions up the table. Robbie McNicholas put them ahead on nine minutes with Jordan Smith, who finished the game with a hat-trick, adding the second just three minutes later. After Kevin Morrow had halved the deficit in the 38th minute Smith rattled in his second of the game to put the Stags 3-1 up at the break. Jordan Lambert increased the lead on 64 minutes and Smith completed his hat trick six minutes later. Elliott Dawson made it 5-2 with eleven minutes left with another goal for Kimberley but two goals in a minute – a second for Lambert and one from Joseph Welsh completed the scoring.
