Midweek SemiFinal week

AROUND THE COUNTIES
By STAN WILTON
Only two midweek games took place and they were both cup semi finals.
Staged by kind permission of Borrowash Victoria FC, the second Jenkins & Jenkins League Cup semi final saw CLIFTON ALL WHITES edge out BELPER UNITED 2-1. The first half belonged totally to the Nottingham side and they went ahead through Mark Green eleven minutes in. Terrible Belper defending saw the Whites double their advantage ten minutes later when James Price scored. In contrast the second half belonged to Belper, who made a double substitution at the break. They pulled one back through Jim Rushby’s penalty on 73 minutes but couldn’t find enough to take the game in to extra time.

Clifton join double hunting Newark Flowserve in the Final to be played at the Lido Ground, Clipstone on Saturday 4th May with a 1pm kick off.

The other semi final saw a brave effort from KIMBERLEY MINERS WELFARE just fail at Northern Premier League Carlton Town in the semi final of the Nottinghamshire FA Senior Cup. The Miners trailed by a goal to nil at the break but Jonathan Jebbison levelled things up two minutes into the second half before the home side got the winner and the right to meet Basford United in the final.
