History

The history of Bardon Hill FC can be traced back to the late 1890`s when the original
Team was called Bardon Hill Granite a picture of which hangs in the clubs hospitality
Suite.
The team played in various local leagues up until the war years when the pitches at the
Original ground behind St Peter’s Church were dug up as part of the “Dig for Victory”
Campaign.
The club reformed after the war and was part of the old Coalville and District League ,
During the early 1950`s the Football club and the Cricket club amalgamated to form
Bardon Hill Sports Club as most of the player’s played both football and cricket for the
Club.
The club joined the Leicester & District League in the early 1970`s before moving onto
The North Leicestershire League in the late 70`s and achieving success in the Premier
Division of the league as well as League Cup Final and Cobbin Final appearances.
The club were moved by our landlords “Aggregate Industries” in 1990 to a new ground
At Bardon Close a 11 acre site with two football pitches and a cricket ground as well as
A brand new clubhouse , the facilities demanded a higher standard of football and the
Club applied and joined the Leicestershire Senior League in 1993 with their first game
Against Hillcroft FC , which resulted in a 3-0 win with Ashley Allen scoring a hat trick.
On achieving promotion to the Premier Division the clubs sights have always been set
High and when the East Midlands Counties league was formed from the Leicestershire
Senior League and the Central Midlands League in 2008 the club needed to finish high
Enough in the league in the previous season and have the appropriate facilities for step 6
To gain entry into the new league , this was achieved by finishing fifth and upgrading
The facilities.
The first season in the new league was a disappointment with the manager leaving mid-season and the club finishing bottom but one , but as they say “every cloud has a silver
Lining”and the arrival of Kevin Ward as manager has turned the club around with the
2009 / 2010 season seeing the club reach new heights , just falling away at the end of
the season when leading the league for so long and winning three games in the
FA Cup eventually going out to Northwich Victoria.
At present the club has a successful Reserve team playing in the Leicestershire Combination Division 1 and a U-18s playing in the Leicestershire Floodlit Youth League.
The club has not stood still off the pitch either with new facilities being added and the playing surface being improved beyond all recognition.
Every club should be ambitious and Bardon Hill are no exception and we hope we can
Keep moving forward both on and off the pitch as we have done in the last few years.
